YM 276
any suggestions on getting a rebuilt inj pump for 2 cyl, 27 hp Yanmar. Pump # 1024-903, assembly # 1242-903, B789409, NP-PES2A65B310RS75NP518. Tractor is a YM 276-11267, engine # 2W90S-10131. Previous owner ran tractor without filter for who knows how long. It finally quit on me. Wonder if I should try to get pump rebuilt or go with one off the shelf, already rebuilt. Any help would be appreciated.

Look in the yellow pages for 'Diesel Fuel Injector Service'. With any luck a specialist can open it and clean out the crud.

Yanmar engines were also used on ThermoKing semitrailer refrigeration units, so a TK dealer might be a means to find a Yanmar pump specialist.

But first, try bleeding the air out to see if it is airlocked. If it quit suddenly that may be all it needs.

Did you bleed the line after opening the filter bowl? It would be a big help to keep this all on the same thread.

Terry, Terry, slow down, you are jumping around like a chicken on a hot rock and making it impossible to try to assist. Correct me if i'm wrong, but did you not remove your filter bowl , only to discover no filter, a NAPA 3262, (fits most Yanmars), was suggested. you put it back together and it would not start, whereby you determined it needed an injector pump. Bleeding fuel lines was suggested, as is always needed, (did you?) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sorry for the confusion. I removed the top of the cannister that contains the cartridge. There was no cartridge inside. TDhe gtractor has been operated without a filter element in the cannister. I then replaced the top, started up and drove it home(1/2 mile) parked it and that is where it is now. I have since removed the inj pump and intend to take itd to a local shop for inspection. Only after the inspection, will I know if it is necessary for a rebuild or just cleaning, new seals, gaskets, etc.
That is the status. I am sorry if I confused any of the members. Remember, this tractor is a 1970's vintage and does not have the "bowl" type used in the 1980 vintage tractors we see everywhere in the USA.

Be careful. Many diesels require the injection pump be timed to the engine. They are not a simple remove and replace part.

I would sure like to see pictures of this setup. Hoye Tractor sells a lot of parts and they think your YM276, 2210 or whatever it is has the same filter bowl and filter as other Yanmars.

I have talked to tmar04. The YM276 that he is referring to is not the 3 cylinder 3T84HA US model that we all know and love. He says his is a gray market 2 cylinder model with a rotary fuel pump. I can find no other mention of that model though.

That link to our catalog might also be a little misleading. The bowls do come in several different sizes. We match up the bowls with the models when the order comes in. All the models in that list are not the same but they all do have the same basic design.
