Injection Pump Repair Shop

A poster on a Mercedes Diesel list recommended Conestoga Diesel for testing and repair of Diesel injection pumps. I contacted Conestoga to see if they are capable and interested in repairing the type of IPs used on our Kioti tractors (my DK45S is vulnerable, but is OK so far). Mel Agne (Conestoga's owner) sent this reply:

Perhaps the next Kioti owner with an IP failure would like to investigate repair by Conestoga.

Thanks Scott.

Maybe TBN members who had failures could send Contestoga their old IPs and Contestoga would keep a couple of rebuilds in stock and offer a quick exchange program.

I received more information from Conestoga today:

Hello Scott,

I am not familiar with the Doowan brand, but we are well versed in the PFR style injection pump. If it is a true clone and parts are interchangeable with Zexel or any of the other manufacturers it would be no problem for us. We've seen the same failure quite often in other applications and keep the gear segments in stock. If anyone has their original damaged pump you could have them send it our way and we could investigate a little further whether parts are interchangeable or available from Doowan.

It certainly sounds like they would try to help one of our Pack that had an IP problem. In a separate email, Mel told me that he is frequently on http://oilburners.net/

My IP is OK (so far) but I am happy to have an option other than buy a new $1K+ IP (as others have had to do).

I have had the best luck in workmanship and price with dedicated diesel-pump specialists on any of my pump-work. That is the route to take, as any non-specialist shop will just send it to the specialists anyway and then charge you a hefty sum on top of the real cost.
