My 2004 Jinma 284's fuel injection pump is leaking out of the top vent. I can drain it, fill it to the correct level then after running it awhile, what appears to be diesel/fuel runs out of the top vent.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

Yes, its a new pump. You have a bad seal. There is no real fix I have heard of other than to replace the pump.

Sorry for the bad news. Hopefully someone else will have better news.

How long is "awhile"? There is often some intermingling of fuel and lube oil over time. And when you change or add oil, please describe how you go about deciding when you've put enough in. Because overfilling will also soon create the symptoms you describe.

There should be a plug on the side of the housing. Remove it before topping up the pump oil. When fresh starts running out that hole - it's full. Stop pouring immediately, replace the side plug, replace the fill/vent

That's how I've been changing it. I guess I haven't changed the pump oil in about six months. Every time I run the engine it overflows. Plus it leaves a small puddle on the garage floor.

I guess I need a pump, shame the seal can't be easily replaced.

The seal on the lift pump push rod could be leaking - that will pump fuel into the injection pump sump. About $50.00 IF that's the problem. There are no seals on the individual barrels and plungers (pumps) themselves, they are a lapped fit so if it's one of them that's leaking, it's new injection pump/governor time.

When is the last time you changed the fuel filter and cleaned the screens?
Have you ever checked for diesel bugs?
