Hello all,
Question; I am taking the injector pump and injectors off a 1974 White 1370 (Fiat 4 cyl. diesel) .Do I need to know anything specific before removal so that installation will be easier I read about timing and setting engine to TDC but have read that since the pump is keyed (on this model) that there is only 1 way to install it and should be timed. Anyone with knowledge I would appreciate the assistance.
Thanks,

Yes the pump is keyed.. if you google White 1370 injection pump.. tractor parts asap has 2 listing for the same pump at different prices. LOL
1 from ebay & 1 from their store.. THEIR STORE is cheaper but I didn't notice the shipping cost..
I can do them also. but w/ shipping back & forth, & depending on whats wrong, probably only save 65.00.

very sorry don't want to be a bother but I have read sooooooo many horror stories about replacing injector pump and getting timing correct. I just want to be sure. You are saying that since the pump is keyed, as long as I replace the pump with the key fitting ( of course) I do not have to worry about setting the engine to TDC with #1 cylinder in firing position. I am new to diesels but learning fast. I has been almost a year of weekend mechanics trying to figure this one out. But with YOUR help I believe I've figured this out. Question, since I'm replacing the pump, I want to replace the injectors at the same time or..do you recommend just having them tested. I figure everything is 40+ years and I want this to run well. Not sure of previous maintenance. I am very particular about staying up on fluid changes

As always THANKS

I think we've had this conversation before on another site?? Lol
Do you know that the gear & dr. shaft is a "tapered fit".?? Your going to need a puller to "pop off" the gear from the shaft.
As long as the gear remains meshed w/ the other gears, there wont be a problem.. That's to say, don't pull the gear out when the pump is not attached & don't move the tractor w/o the pump attached..
You can take a marker or paint pen & draw a line & mark where the gears mesh before pulling the pump..
The pump will only go on 1 way.. BUT the gear can sometimes move.. not likely but it does happen.
THEN theres the line on the outside of the pump housing mounting flange, name plate side.. SOMETIMES there is some degree marks stamped into the block & sometimes there is just another line that it matches up to.. just make a note or picture of its original position..
Its the simplest pump to remove & install, so don't over think it..
Are you buying another pump?? or are you getting YOURS repaired??
Get the injectors CHECKED.. and it usually less expensive to get them repaired, rather than buying new.

What a great memory..or I've been such a Pain you can't forget
My wife takes pleasure when somebody else confirms her opinions.....I over think too much
I'll let you know how it goes..you'll be getting the pump and injectors in the mail to check out, when I get to it
after tearing down the rest of the fuel system and finding nothing ,I hope this is the issue
As with ALL the other threads I've read You are a great resource to those in need.
