I bought a set of garage door hinges after being angry that my heated garage is not doing a good job of keeping the heat in and the cold out.

So after calling around to garage door companies with no good solutions and finally after going to Google.... I've discovered the Holy Grail of garage door accessories! These are garage door hinges that have 12 lb per inch spring suspension built into the axle and wheel carrier tube. This keeps constant mild tension pushing your door out against the weather seal and prevents winds from blowing the door inward away from the edge seals and allowing cold outside air to blow freely in around your doors.

Your paying to heat the inside, yet your allowing 10 degree air to blow freely. Insanity....

No more insanity! For a few bucks and a few minutes of time you can jam these Green Hinge System hinges onto your doors and do a much better job heating that shop and save money. A warmer shop, lower heating bills, lower cooling cost in the summer. These are advantageous no matter what time of year.

I made a quick video showing the Green
Hinge Systems being installed.

Simple, wick and easy.

The guy had a display at a local vintage tractor show and talked with him for a while. He seemed nice and his product seemed well made.

We found them by happenstance, I was skeptical spending around $150 on hinges... But once I saw what they were doing to the problem that I had... I had no choice but to get behind this product and try to share the word.

Pretty cool!

I just put up a new Haas garage door back in October. It's really nice, fits tight, and has seals between each panel section. R value is around 18, has sprayed-in foam in each section. Also has an outer seal around the threshold. I keep my garage heated in the winter, 50-60 degrees, I notice a nice improvement in heat retention with this new door. The door it replaced was 25 years old, so yeah, they've gotten much better over the years! Also got a new belt drive opener with a DC motor. Man is that thing quiet!

I've had them for about 10 years and love them.

Its always amazing to me when something that appears to be rather simple can work so well. I also wonder where were the garage door manufacturers for the last 40 years. It just seems like this is an idea that should have been made standard on garage doors rather than wait for someone else to figure it out. Oh well, at least we have it now so I will quit complaining. Thanks for posting this. I am going to be ordering two sets.
