The clutch on my new 2620 has started to simply NOT work upon start up. I'll pull the tractor out...then go to engage the rear PTO and ....no clutch. The pedal pressure is also higher than when the clutch works regularly. I've checked all the linkage, as well as the hyd fluids. All OK.

Today it finally started to work as normal after several minutes. And the pedal pressure was back to normal as well.

I have read that the clutch can STICK. Hence the little wooden block supplied with the tractor. Mine set for a week maximum. Maybe I simply need to install the block to keep the plate away from the flywheel??

I have not had a similar issue with mine, even with extended periods of inactivity.

I haven't had a problem with mine either. Is it possible that your tractor is in a high humidity area or where condensation could be forming, causing it to rust and stick? I didn't know our tractors were supplied with a wood block. I don't believe I got one with mine. Mine sets quite a bit in the winter time also and I haven't seen this either.

Update....

My tractor has all of 52 hours. The clutch is now not working at all. Meaning...Depress the clutch to engage the PTO and the PTO will grind. With PTO engaged, say with the mower...depress clutch and pto continues to spin the mower.

Checking under the tractor everything looks fine. It has not bottomed out on rocks, or been abused, so the linkage isn't damaged in any way. And the adjustment nut on the linkage is still in the original factory setting.

The book states the free play in the clutch should be 0.8" to 1.2" .
Checking the freeplay I'm at 1 1/2" + or - 1/8".

Could the pressure plate/clutch have simply "worn in" requiring adjustment of the pedal??

My Dealer is 50 miles away and I have no way to get the tractor in for a check up. I'd like to diagnose this if I can.

high humidity was mentioned, what about water in the hydro fluid. would that expedite a clutch getting stuck to flywheel.?

I live in a semi arid area of MT. We get on average 16" of precip annually. The tractor is garaged anyway.

Recently did the 50 hr svc. Changed the filters for the hydro and the fluid looked fine. No different from the UDT I added to top it off. UDT level is in the upper 2/3 of the stick.

I'm going to note where the linkage is adjusted...then adjust to allow for the freeplay thats reccomended...and see what that does.

Currently busy with other fires....... so probably wont adjust linkage until this evening.

Appreciate the input Gentlemen.

My Dealer was headed this way on Friday...so stopped in. We adjusted the clutch so it engaged quicker....seems to have taken care of the problem. Didn't move things much, but it seemed to be all it needed.
