Install disc brakes on Ford 1720.

Need help Installing disc brakes on Ford 1720.

Can anyone walk me through a break job on a Ford 1720?? Is it necessary to drain all the hydraulic oil before starting?

If i had brake lining like you do in the fluid I would drain it first. To remove any that might be in there. The thread I found the person said it was easier to replace tractor brakes then car brakes.



Takes 3 disks per side so it's not cheap.

My Son installed the new disc and disc plates. Three of each per side... the original factory ones were totally shot.. All the brake material was gone and into the hydraulic system.... drained the system and installed a new filter... We'll change the filter again after a few hours.... fairly simple job but expensive..... Thanks again Brown!!!

Glad it was easy and the issue, should be good for another 25 plus years or so.

Btown, I wouldn't of happened without your searching through all the post to find the information needed... The brakes work great but the 4 wheel drive keeps kicking out now and the cost to repair may force me to sell to someone that can get by without 4x4 or can do the work himself....
