Here's a pic of my new ATV snowblade....the Myers cylinder has been replaced with a double action cylinder/ram...and is....now completely connected and ready for the two hydraulic hoses.... Now I'm lookin' to where and how to mount one double action hydraulic cylinder/ram for angling the blade....I'm thinkin that the best spot would be to install it to the "A" frame of the snowblade rather than the main frame of the tractor....

Diagrams or pics from someone who has already done this.... then all I have to do is copy the OP idea...the ones I have mostly seen from past posts.... always seem to have two single action cylinders...my prefferance is to use just one double action cylinder to keep it basicly simple..... thanks in advance<<<>>>Ampa

The pic is a bit too blurry for me to look at. But I'd connect to the A-frame.

I have standard single rams for angling my Western plow.

I'd much rather install one double action cylinder than two....then I'd probley need to buy a triple lever control valve....to replace the two lever one I already have installed on the rear fender...
To use a single double acting cylinder would depend on where the pivot pin/point was installed....I know that most the basic setups I've ever seen always use two single action cylinders/rams.. I do believe that one d/a cylinder/ram would work okay with a well thought out detailed plan.....here's two new pics of the same snowblade....the zinc plated manual pin/handle... one of the multi punched holes on the swivel plate can be seen inbetween the heavy duty blade fold down spring and the locking zinc plated pin/handle .......this pin/spring will be removed and replaced with the D/A single cylinder/ram ....Ampa

just added 3 new updated pics...I've decieded to use a single double acting cyl./ram to angle my brand new ATV type 48" snowblade center/left and right... is there anyone from this forum that can help me fabricate my idea on paper into working reality..or anyone remember reading something on the same subject....I know it will work.... just need someone to draw it out for me in diagram form....I still need to add a stud to the tie rod assembly to make it all one piece....I could have bought male instead of a female....but it was almost 4 times the price of the two pieces shown in the pic....maybe the male threaded tie rod was made of gold ... much appreciated<<<<>>>>>Ampa

I'm thinking that you would want to install your cyl/ram to the left or to the right of center. This way when you are pushing/pulling the cyl/ram, it makes the blade rotate left or right. You could possibly run a piece of angle horizontally, like the top piece, between your two side verticle pieces. Drill a hole to the left/right of center and mount your cyl/ram.

One or two cylinders would work for any plow. But, the big thing is the amount of cylinder travel you have. I believe yours looks like 6-8" and that might not be enough.
Here are 2 pictures of a curtis plow on a 2008 RTV900. The cylinders go from the a-arm just back of the radius plate on the plow, in other words about 12" from the plow pivot point back toward your vehicle and the other end is somewhere along the blade to suit the length of the cylinder travel. Mine are very long and lots of travel. And you are right I could remove both and replace with a single double acting. But they don't do that very often because it means you have one connection at the end of the cylinder body where it can more easily get damaged. Back at the a-arm it's a little more protected and you don' have long hydraulic lines strung out the length of the cylinder body.
That said it will still work with your setup, just extend the cylinder half way out it's stroke, and with help, move the blade through the travel of the cylinder to see what you get. I don't have my plow on just yet so can't tell you how much travel or degrees of swing it has, but I suppose any is better than nothing.
Perhaps someone who is setup can measure there for reference and let you know.

What you are seeing in the 2nd picture is half the stroke of the cylinder because the blade is straight.

I am somewhat confused. All the setups I have seen where they use 2 single action rams, they tie one end of each ram into each side of a control lever, so it takes the same control setup as a 1 double acting ram.
Is your plow setup for 2 single acting rams?

Okay I see what you mean....thank you ever so much....I've got a bunch of 1/4" heavy steel brackets.... that I found in a garbage bin outside a plumbing supply warehouse....I asked and they told me to help myself to anything in that bin...steel or anything like this always interests me...anyhow I can make one or two do...I will take a couple pic's of these free brackets......Ampa :thumbsup:

That metal is just what a fabricator needs.

And did you notice the ding in the garage door in picture 2 and 3?

Don't test the swing when the door is down. :mur:
