I got a deal on a used model 70 loader for my jd 855 compact but the loader is set up to hookup to the scv valve which I do not have. could anybody tell me how to go about it to hook it up?
I know a valve would be needed but where do I tap into to get the hydraulic fluid ?
any help would be appreciated. thanks

Did you get the framework that mounts on the tractor as well?

As for the DSCV, it would probably best to get the factory DSCV kit from JD, As it would bolt right to the tractor. To put a ftermarket setup on it would be a huge PITA, and it might even cost more money to get it working.

yes, I got the mounting brackets if that is what you mean. jd does not sell the scv kit any more. you have to buy it piece by piece and that can get pricey. I just would like to know where I can tap into the hydraulics.

If you log onto JDParts, go to your tractor model, then look under "hydraulics" in the sectional breakdown, you'll see two listings for "auxiliary hydraulic kit". That is a power beyond kit for a backhoe, but you can look at the picture and see where the hydraulic system is tapped, and go from there. There is a "diverter plug" listed, and I believe that is a power beyond plug so you'll need to order that for sure. When your looking at loader valves make sure to look for "open center" valves because that is what you have. I like the Prince LVT joystick valves myself.

funny you mention that because there is some sort of setup in the back of the tractor that is similar to the attachment. I even took a picture of it and showed the dealer and was told there was indeed a backhoe at one time. I'll have to look again and see if I can follow it. maybe this won't be as hard as I thought. thanks for the info.

I did not realize the kit was discontinued!

You will need to get that "block" (part # 4 in the picture) from the power beyond kit to tap into the hydraulics, that will give you the pressure and return ports that would then get plumbed to the valve.

just got back from removing the seat and following the 2 ports
that are in the back of the tractor. they have it plumbed to the test plug on the rockshaft housing. I don't know if that is the proper way to do it but it works. I got oil on one port.

i would just like to know where you got a good deal on a model 70a loader? i see them on ebay sometimes but they usually go for about 3/4s of what you can buy a aftermarket one. then you have to go and pick it up or have it shipped. and with fuel prices what they are thats almost cost prohibitive.

the loader is a model 70 loader. paid $1400.00 and was told it was about 1 or 1 1/2 yrs old. the previous owner hardly used it. looks practically new. stored mostly in a barn and if that wasn't lucky enough, found it approx. 10 miles from me and their going to deliver it to me at no charge. how's that for a deal?
