I have everything ready to go to install the extender tubes, including loosening the two banjo
fittings beneath the seat. It looks like I'm going to get a flood of hydraulic fluid as soon as I loosen
them. Two questions: Are the tranny and hydraulic systems one and the same? And if so, does it make sense to drain the fluid down a ways to prevent losing any when attaching the extender tubes?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Have you located the dipstick for the hydraulic/transmission fluid? If yes, is the oil level higher than the fittings you are going to crack open? If no to the oil level then the fittings you are gong to crack should not have much oil to lose.
