Installing draft links on new 4710

Hi,

I just took ownership of a new 4710 with a 460 FEL and 48 BH.

This weekend I removed the 48 BH and assembled the 3 PTH.

I ran into a bit of difficulty installing the left (Looking at the rear of the tractor) draft link.

Specifically, the problem is the mounting bracket for the 48 BH is very near the end of the lower pin that the draft link slides on to. As such it was a very tight squeeze and required a lot of persuasion to get on. Now I don't think I'll be able to get it off.

My dealer was very responsive and came to my house to work on it today. They too struggled and said they were going to contact JD.

In the meantime, I wanted to check to see if anyone else had or has this problem and ask it they have any suggestions or advice as to how to solve the problem.

I had the same problem on my 4710 the first time I installed the draft links. They will fit, although it is tight getting them in. The balls are tight in the sockets when new because of the paint. I sprayed the balls with WD40 & used a hitch pin & moved the balls around until they loosened up. I have not had any problems removing & installing them since the first time.
As a note when installing the links. Hook them on the lower pin first. You have to lean the top of the arms in towards the PTO to get them between the bracket & the pin.

I'll try some grease or oil.

Tipping the top of the draft link is actually how I ended up getting the link on. It still took a bit of force.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get it off.
