I am going to be purchasing a front end loader for my 4110. For reasons too lengthy to explain, I won't be making contact with the dealer until I pick it up.

How difficult is it to install/uninstall the loader? how long does it take and does it require tools?
Should I also be purchasing counter weights?

Which FEL are you getting, a 410?

If the Dealer is installing it the first time, then there after it requires no tools and is quite a pleasant experience.

Installation is not difficult - you will need metric socket set.

A helper to lift the loader amd bucket off the back of the truck would have been handy...

Make sure you get the installation manual.

I ran into some confusion on the hydraulic lines - manual appeared to have an incrrect diagram in it. Was easy to fix - just re-arrange the color-coded caps, execpt for the boom lift line which gets a special flow-control oriface to keep it from dropping too fast.

You WILL NEED 800 lbs of rear ballast which is more than you can do with just wheel weights, so you will need some weight on the 3-pt hitch. You should get the ballast box, make a ballast block, or

I think the parts that will require tools are the grill guard and the rotator that's bolted to the frame near the fuel filter. (by the way, once the FEL is in place, you'll have to remove the fuel filter via its 10 mm attachment bolt. Then rotate the whole assembly up to unscrew the ring that holds the filter and glass in place.)

Hopefully, you'll get the FEL owner's manual. It covers the installation.

You'll need around 300# on the 3 pt to offset a 1,000# in the FEL. Otherwise, the tractor will get a bit tippy.

I have a 4100 with the 410 loader. My arms drop very fast. Where would the orifice be located? Maybe mine is missing? Is it between the hose and disconnect?

Its goes in a fitting that is put on the end of the hose before the quick-connect.

Parts 12 and 13 in this drawing. Note that the quantity on these parts is 1, while the quick-connects qty=4.

I recommend a KK carryall instead of a ballast box. It's much more useful. A BB would do, too, if you can use the BB for other things.

I bought my KK carryall from TSC for about $92, with tax and all. Brought it home and bolted a palate that I'd been saving to the bottom part of the "L" frame. Bolted some 1 bys to the vertical part of the frame and have made some standards to hold the 3 sides out of lumber attached to the edges of the palate. Still working on the back side, actually front when looking at it from the rear. Plan to make that one folding. Will post some pics of it when I get it done.
