I can't seem to sneak my mower deck underneath the tractor without hitting either the oil filter or the front drive. I usually place some wood down and rest the front tires on them to give me more height. Any suggestions?
It's a PITA I agree (poor design IMHO). I raise all 4 wheels on the deck to their highest position so the deck is as low as it can be and make sure the rack is raised all the way up. I can then wrestle it underneath the tractor without it hitting anything delicate. It's easier with 2 folks. I don't need to drive the front up on anything using the above procedure.
Usually the only time I remove the mower is for front end loader work. If so, the loader goes on first and comes off last. I use that to raise the front tires off the ground. It provides plenty of clearance.
If I didn't use the loader to assist, I would be looking into what it costs for the full swivel anti-scallop wheels that they use on the front of the mower. I'm not sure there is a reason outside of cost why they never went on the back of the mower. Four full-swivel wheels would really make this job much easier.

The front swivel wheels will not fit on the rear. I turned one of the fixed rear wheel 90 degree and drilled a hole to put the pin in. Since you can only do this with only one of the rear wheels, I lift the other one up and it makes it easier to pull out. If I have the BH on I put the FEL on the other side of the mower and lift the front end and drive across the mower and save the work of sliding the mower sideways.
I always r&r mower from left side, however this would probably work on right too. Just reverse. With mower raised, remove height adjust pin on left rear wheel, let wheel drop down and turn it 90 degrees. Put the pin back in the top hole and let the wheel shaft rest against it. Disconnect the mower and raise the lift arms. Roll the mower out . The right wheel is in mid air . Installation of mower is reverse. Beats dragging it in and out.
Just an addition to the last post. I really recommend the hydraulic filter guard. It's real easy to clip the filter with the mower when pulling it in and out. Besides the peace of mind when your out in the rough stuff.
