Since I'm tighter than bark on a tree I didn't opt for the dealer to install my winch on the RTV 500 I bought so now I've got to pick one up and put it one. Besides the winch, wiring, and the roller fairlead do I need any special brackets to mount the winch to? Are there already holes in the frame to hold a winch?

There are mount holes above the front hitch receiver..Not sure how universal the mountings are though.

My Trans Mule diesel weighs in around 1700 lbs. dry so I installed a Warn RT40. The weight of your rig will dictate the winch power required. Plan on installing a winch that is at least rated double the LOADED weight of your RTV 500.

I planned on putting a 2500lb on there like the dealer does I just didn't want to pay their price for one. I wasn't sure if I needed any additional brackets or plates to install it though, I just want to have everything I need for the install before I try to put it on.

If the RTV 500 is anything like the RTV 900, there is a pre-drilled mounting plate under the hood. The winch and fairlead stay inside, and you pull the cable out a hole in front.

I opted to make my own adapter plate and install the winch outside on the bumper/grill ***'y. Kubota is useless in their documentation telling the owner about the drilled plate under the hood.

Good luck! My winch gets a lot of work, and I can highly recommend the synthetic line you can buy on Ebay; it's flexible, strong, doesn't stretch, and doesn't fray.
