It is my impression that most TBN members who are using their equipment for non-commercial purposes obtain coverage through their homeowners' policies. Some obtain coverage though their tractor manufacturer when they make their purchases -- Kubota comes to mind.

I currently insure my farm structures (house, outbuildings) and equipment through a whole farm policy (similar to a homeowner's policy). Formerly, I had a policy on the structures with an Inland Marine policy rider on the equipment. The whole farm policy turned out to be a lot better in terms of bang for the buck.

I thought I saw somewhere on TBN about policies that will cover damage when using, or trailering. Had a couple of hundred dollar deductable. I had insurance from Kubota on my L35, but that ended when I paid it off. I might have to dig them out and see if they will cover now plus the new Kioti I'm getting tomorrow.

Thanks

There is a few questions needing to be asked and have the insurance co. put in writing the policy. Replacement coverage The salesman promises the moon the co. will talk the replacement of existing replacment cost. less deductable.
How quickly will the insurance co. settle the claim.
Do you have to retain a lawyer to get payment.
This I found out after the total loss by theft of Finn Hydro-seeder T90 + 1 ton 2001 Dodge truck flat bed. with load of seed and mastic. Notify police and insurance co. No worry for them
Police say maybe will be recovered if the Vin # is submitted into the computer sys.
Insurance co.says replacement was dropped when policy renewed.
So far after 2 months any contact with either is only if you make the call.
$50,000 + and nothing done. And if you submit a claim no longer the good insurance member.
Had a contractor with several dozers and dirt moving equip. He had a dozer stolen .5 years and still not located if is up to him to recover.
Insurance for farm equip. is only for on the farm if on road not insured. even crossing from one farm to another across the road 32 feet.
So assume nothing the in the policy unless it is written in policy the agent will say one thing and know it is not so. Experance is a good teacher but costly.
