Insurance Question - Umbrella Liability Policy?

/ Insurance Question - Umbrella Liability Policy? #41
My umbrella policy is a blanket liability policy. If somebody sues me for anything other than debt collection, the insurance company will defend the lawsuit and pay any judgment. Criminal activity is excluded, so if I get into a bar fight and knock somebody's teeth out, I'm not covered, but a non-criminal act like libel is covered. Not all policies are identical.
Unless its a buisness policy, it is likely backing up your (required) homeowners/renters liability coverage.
Using random numbers, say your homeowners liability limit is $500k and you have a 2$ million umbrella policy on top of that.
If you were sued for $300k because (as an example) you mowed the grass and blew clippings into the road which caused a motorcycle to crash it would go against your homeowners insurance, not your umbrella policy.
