I have a 07 model td95D and haven't yet been able to figure out the right way to use the glow plug on it. It looks like just a single one in the intake on this tractor. We've been getting a lot of snow lately and low teens for temps. It's a bear to get started on these cold mornings. I haven't ever had to boost it or sprayed starting fluid in it. I don't believe in that stuff anyway. My owners manual doesn't say a thing about the intake heater. Anyone know how to use it? It's got a pushbutton on the dash and I can't tell a difference in starting pushing the button vs not.

Key on, engine off. Push the thermostart button and hold it for 45 seconds to a minute before cranking the engine.

You should help write these owners manuals ya know. You just said in one sentence what they would spend a whole page on. I hate these manuals that are translated from another language.

Do you know if they come with block heaters standard by any chance? I have looked real hard and not found one yet but most companies are notorious for hiding the cord.

DON'T EVER PUT STARTING FLUID IN A TRACTOR WITH THERMOSTART! You'll blow the intake manifold off! It dribbles fuel across a heated grid to light a flame in the intake manifold to help heat the incoming air. So if you squirt in starting fluid and then turn the key on (which also activates the Thermostart)........BOOM!

Your owners manual should tell you how to operate the thermostart but a minute's use will probaly do you until it gets colder than about ~10F.

I use a block heater on my Ford 4610 and get really quick starts with it without grinding the starter too long. It's on a timer and it goes on an hour and a half before I feed. Philips-Temro makes block heaters and if you don't have one on your tractor(they are generaly an option) you can probably get one. They take about a half hour to install IF the core plug is accessible.

New Holland tractors typically do not come with block heaters as factory equipment. Tractors are built for near-worldwide distribution and some markets have little or no need for such a feature. Likewise, there are differences in AC voltage standards around the world. Therefore, block heaters are a dealer installed accessory in most cases.

These tractors use the thermostart system that actually lights a flame in the intake? I didn't know that. I never looked at it that close I guess.

I would never use starting fluid in anything. I've had to pull heads on too many diesels to get out mushroomed glow plugs from it before. When other people did it. Not me.

I have a 2004 TN65D with a block heater that I installed. When the temperature gets below 32 degrees F I plug it in and in 20 minutes to 1/2 hour, the tractors starts like its summer! Even when its 0 out, the tractor starts up and is ready to work with heat in 5 minutes! The block heater is 1000 watts and its the best extra accessory I ever added to my tractor!

Have you verified that the glow plug is working?
