Intake vent installation

I put an exhaust fan in the boat storage bay in my shop, now I need to install an intake vent. Take a look at the picture and tell me how to do it. Thanks!

Well....cut the hole bigger than the inside flange but smaller than the outside flange. Drill a few holes and use some self tapping sheet metal screws from the outside to attach it to the metal wall. Caulk the bejesus out of it on the top and sides, and around the bottom but leave a weep hole or more in the bottom. it might also help to center it between the larger ribs and then you might also need to notch the remaining large center rib back so it sits flush better.

Or you could frame out an opening for it in wood or metal, or...or... or.. a million ways. A lot depends on how important the looks and weather tightness are to you.

That metal siding is a fairly standard color. You should have no problem finding a “J” or “U” type trim that would allow you to cut the siding, slide in the trim and then attach the vent to that.

Look at how the contractor did the windows and doors on the building in question.

Thanks for the advice! I put both the air inlet and exhaust fan in inconspicuous locations so my lack of experience wouldn't show. It definitely helps, and just in time...107° forecasted today.
