I have a friend looking at a 2525 w/ bucket. He owns 5 acres. The principal use will be landscaping and clearing driveway (looking at snowblowers too). Anyone familiar w/ this model? If so, what do you think?

Thanks.

I hadn't ventured to stock any of them, until this spring, when I had a customer that saw one at another dealer this winter, and wanted me to order him one. He told me he had looked at it on a very cold winter day and was surprised at how well it started up. I order the tractor for him and when it arrived he was on vacation for 2 weeks and while it sat on my lot I sold 3 more. The experience so far has been some minor warranty issues right off of the bat. Fuel caps not venting, radiator cap not venting, 1 hydraulic sealing washer, 1 thermostat, and one safety switch. I fixed those problems in the first few weeks they were out in the spring, and they have been problem free since. All 4 of the customers say they are very happy with them now. The 2525 is not the tractor that the Mahindra 15/16 series tractors are but the price isn't what they are either. One of the customers even handles round hay bales with the loader. I hope this helps.

Galen,

I am happy for your sucess with the 2525. I have yet to stock one at my dealership, but after your story I may just have to rethink my position.

If your asking me I'd advise you to steer well clear of it............

I've owned a JL254 for 3 yrs now, it has 130Hrs on the clock and in that time the following has gone wrong.

1@ 20Hrs. Hydraulic pump wore out. Dealer supplied a new one under warranty
2@ 22Hrs. 4x4 input shaft (circlip slipped out of groove causing gear not to ingage)
3@ 25Hrs. Cluch disk sheard facing off. Relpaced under warranty.
4@ 26Hrs. Replaced brake cables, old ones stretched to far.
5@ 60Hrs. Starter motor packed up(faulty drive)
6@ 65Hrs. Steering ram mounts stripped out
7@ 120Hrs. Engine noises start( loud knocking from bottom end)
8@ 130Hrs Engine dies and will need a rebuild

Apart from the above its a great tractor..........NOT

Those above are the major troubles I've had with mine, not to mention lots of little anoying things like the tyres going flat on a weekly basis, battery always flat, mountings constantly coming loose due to sloppy threads, i think i have shares in Loctight now.
Did i mention the front hubs leaking from day one.
No dealer support anymore in my state, we had quite a few where i live but they all wised up and off loaded the brand because of all the problems.

Still wanna buy one.........THINK AGAIN MY FRIEND.

Thread starter is asking about the Mahindra 2525 model not the JL254 model.

I'm not going to brag on the 2525, but I will say that it is a lot different then the old Lenar version. Mahindra spent a bunch of time and money and made it a much better tractor, changing it in significant ways. Even so, for me, I'd still spend a little more and buy a 16 series.

Well I am up to 40 hours on my 2525 in the UK and I am very pleased with it.
I have the 4 in 1 front loader fitted and it is perfect for odd jobs around our 3 acres. Used it in the winter with a yard scraper on the back to clear the snow and it was spot on. Only criticism I have is that it is too light on the back end with the FEL even with the standard wheel weights, and needs extra ballast on the back to give it traction.

It has had a couple of faults.

The starter interlock switch on the forward/reverse selector lever went high resistance causing a relay to tremble, which in turn caused the main starter solenoid to flutter and not engage the starter correctly. A replacement switch was quickly sent by the dealer I purchased the tractor from.

One fuel injector started sticking, probably due to some fine metal particle left in the fuel system during production. It scored the injector needle preventing it from closing correctly. I polished out the scoring which got me up and running again and the dealer sent me a new injector as a replacement.

OK, so neither of these faults should happen on a new piece of kit, but nothing too serious. I guess only time will tell if Mahindra really have engineered out the faults from the Lenar days.
