Would like to hear any details that anyone has on the new EPA certified engines, especially the the Y385. Would like to hear on the Y395, both 30 and 35hp versions, as well. Thanks.

John,
we have received our first EPA certified Farm Pro tractors from HOmier. The Y380 and Y385 engines appear to be the same except for the EPA lable. It appears these engines passed without modification, at least visible, even still has crankase vented to atmosphere which surprised me, but it could be that the requirements for less than 25hp are fairly easy to meet, I think they only need to meet teir I at present. By the way, The two year warranty Homier went to is the result of an EPA requirement. Certified engines are supposed to have longer warranties.

I also have a KAMA TS354X in stock with EPA TY395 engine in 35HP trim. Quite a bit different, uses EGR valve and some type of pump on rear of alternator with lines going to lower crankcase. It is obvious that a fair amount of work was expended brining this engine into tier II compliance. I know the 30HP version is less expensive and does not have the electronic engine controls the 35HP version uses, but I have not seen a 30HP first hand yet.

Thanks Chip.

That surprises me, too. Also would have expected a hotter Tstat, and should have more acurate injector timing, direct from factory. I guess they could have made some internal changes (compression change for example), and will be updated in the manual, sometime in the distant future /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I just finished assembling a JM 354 with and EPA engine.
It is a good bit quieter than some of the other machines I have tried, it also smokes less and starts very fast.
I am going to try and get some pics up soon.

John
