the law suit was won by the saw abuser.he never used a table saw,all safety device's removed including the fence. he said the saw was vibreting so he stoped, looked at it ,started it up and just pushed the wood harder and he finger slipped into the blade. got a lawer and sued for $250,000.00. the jury found him 35 % the manufactor 65% the amount was $1.500,000.00 . we all will pay:confused:

Unreal.. dont they look at facts, or better yet don't people take responsability now a days.
I use a push block of some sort... have store bought ones but usually end up using a scrape piece of wood.

If I'm correct from what has been said here you must buy 'their' saw, what's the quality of it, is it commercial?

Yes, you guys are right to question the damage to bearings and motors.

I'm sure blade manufacturers' love it but there seems to be too much waste. Something this sensitive can trigger from high moisture content wood and how about room humidity? When that changes does it change the chance of a false trigger. Using the saw in an outside shed or on a construction site when you get a quick down pour, for example.

Also there have to be flying teeth when that thing goes off. I wear goggles but not everyone does, still how about teeth at that speed hitting skin or someone else in the room?

I liket the idea but the best protection is common sense. Don't run a saw when you're tired , distracted or don't know what you're doing.

It almost seems like it needs a sensitivity control but once you do that you get people cutting off body parts because they set it at its lowest point.

well said Rob I never considered the downpour for moisture.
I'm curious if we could compare the false alarms to like the GCFI trips .(nuisance)

They probably operate on similar principles. If current is flowing through the blade and through your body, the return current through the sensing circuit is a little less and a trip results.

The big difference is when my GFCI trips, I push a little button and viola -- it is fixed. When the saw trips, it is $100. Unless you have a spare handy, you can't use your saw for a while.

Boy, isn't that the truth. Some guy spills hot coffee on his lap and sues for some ungodly amount.

It's so bad now that we get manuals with pages of safety info. OK, somethings should be highlighted but it's getting ridiculous now. "Don't touch the exhaust it could be hot and you might get burned" stuff. I'm thinking some jamoke buys a machine with an exhaust pipe sticking out, burns himself and sues. There should be rules. If you have a single digit IQ you can't buy or operate anything that moves in any direction including a washing machine.

The stink of it is we're all paying for these bottom feeders.

Lawyers! What do lawyers and sperm have in common? They're both trying to become human beings!

Don't get me started!
