Intermittent 4WD NX5010

Heyas,

I have a NX5010 HST with 290 hours that has an intermittent 4WD issue. Sometimes the front wheels pull, sometimes they don't. On one of those occasions I flipped the switch for 4WD and it started pulling then I heard and felt a thunk under my feet and it went back into 2WD. Fluid level is fine and had all filters replaced. Any ideas what it could be? Does it have a solenoid that puts it into 4WD? I had a similar issue with my F350 where the solenoid was temperamental.

There is what is called the modulate valve assembly on the right side under the cab. If you follow the two hydraulic lines that come out of the pump one goes to the loader SCV and the other goes further back to the modulate valve.

The valve that activates the 4wd and the valve that activates the PTO clutch pack is in this assembly - both of which are electric solenoid type valves. The line coming out of the modulate valve goes back forward to the steering valve.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I'll check to see if there is a loose connection. A side note, I greased the tractor including 10 pumps into the 2 zerks under the front axel and when I went to move the tractor the front wheels pulled. A coincidence?

Coincidence- those just grease the pivot point of the front axle housing

@dusty3030, do you happen to have the part number for the 4wd solenoid? I know this is an old thread, but I'm having issues with the 4wd not engaging after I shut down and restart. No switch input, it just doesn't stay in 4wd after restart. If I let it cool it will go back in to 4wd.
