Price Check International 2544 Price???

I was glancing around a few tractor dealers looking for a possible trade up for my old 2 wheel drive International and I happened across the same model tractor at a local dealer, the kicker was they are asking $8500 for it

My tractor is in far better shape, the paint looks good, the tires aren't worn out, I have wheel weights and the loader isn't as rusty. My question is do these things actually fetch prices like that nowadays If it makes a difference my tractor has 1900 hrs on it, I'm not positive how many hours are on this unit but being an old tractor I would assume them to be at least as high.

I do like those tractors and I'm not impressed that the one pictured shouldn't have new tires and fresh paint before it even begins to get to the price you say they want for it much less being pristine condition and working right!

The one pictured value----2500 tops if it runs and works!

Likely not (it is still for sale), and I agree with art.

For that kind of money, or a couple grand more, you can get some imports new.

Maybe it is priced to make the one next to it look like it is not priced too high. Comparative shopping and sales pitching may be at work here.

If you are looking in that 35-50HP look at some of the older JDs like the 301A, 1520,1530. JD made basically the same tractor for alot more years then IH did. Now I love red iron (have a 706 and a 1066 )but in that utility size for that time frame IH sucked! Parts are much easier to get for the JDs due to common design. That twin stick basic tractor was a really strong runner for lots of years and many parts are still easily available and machines too at okay prices for how they work. Maybe something for you to think about anyway.

I'm looking to downsize, I've already got an International 2544 like that I was just curious if any were actually fetching prices like that. I'd like to get a small 4 wheel drive tractor with something in the 20-25 hp range with a diesel engine. The International runs like a charm and is dependable as can be but I'd like the maneuverability of a compact tractor as well as the ability to haul it around with my 1/2 ton truck.

That one is worth $2500.on a really good day to some one that really wants it(more like $2-$2200).painted with better tires and hoses $3-$3500.No Where near $8K
