Hi,
I know this may sound like a dumb question... maybe it is, but I can't find the answer.
My IH-280A (1979) had no reverse. I finally found the problem, it's a washer that holds the shuttle valve in the center section...
Now, when I fix it, I need to fill it with Hy-Tran and I can't figure out how much I need. I only dropped the oil in the section with the pump, motor, servos... I know it's at least 5 gallons, because I caught that much in a bucket. It's a long story... but I dropped a lot on the ground before that, maybe another 5 gallons.
I guess I need to buy at least 10 gallons; should i buy 15? It's about $60 bucks per 5 gallon, and I have to drive 100 miles to get it. I found a file somewhere that say's it needs 18 gallons... but is that completely taken apart?
It's been a long investigation; thankfully this is my last piece of puzzle before I can ride my tractor in reverse!
Thanks,
Martin.
