Hey Guys,
I am new to the forum, but have been reading posts here for years to help with issues, so thanks in advance for past help.
I have a 64 B-414 Diesel that wont start. It was running great but I ran it out of fuel two weeks ago. Here is every detail of what was done while it was down.
1- We replaced the #22 oring from the injector diagram on the throttle arm. (it was leaking and upon removal, there wasn't one there)
It is still leaking slightly.
2 - The starter was dragging bad and was saturated (inside) with fuel (Leaking oring above) so I bought an new aftermarket starter with the solenoid on the starter itself. The old solenoid was mounted on the firewall. This starter doesn't have a need for the "engage lever" that you have to push down on the old starter, so that is bypassed. My buddy wired the starter and it turns great, but the two wires that were on the pressure switch from the old starter are just wired together? I know that switch had some involvement with the starter, but as I said, the new starter turns great. My concern - will any of the old starter wiring interfere with the engine starting as long as the starter is turning good? Most of the wiring on the tractor is cut and hard to trace, but I don't know for sure if there is a circuit that would prevent the tractor from firing?
3 - We bled the fuel beginning at the pump, all the way through the sequence from the manual and feel that it is purged of air. Seem to be getting good fuel flow to the injector pump and also some fuel at the injectors (however on this tractor I don't know how to tell if it is sufficient)
Tractor has new fuel, new starter, has been bled good, but will not start (even with a shot of ether).
I have purchased the glow plug conversion kit that I have seen posted on the forum, but haven't installed that yet, just need to get her running again first.
