Now by my simple math 12 goes into 51 more than 4 times, so 51,350/12,000 should be more than 4.
Well I guess the info is worth what I paid for it.
/edit - and a 50 cubic foot room? 8'H x 6' x 1.04'?

Hi, I'm Charlie Kasov and this is how to convert cubic feet to tons for air conditioning. Now what we mean by that is cubic feet of your room converted to the amount of tons you need in the air conditioner meaning the weight of the air conditioner. So it's a two step formula. Let's do the first step. Let's say we have 50 cubic feet of space in our room. We're going to multiply that by 1027. 1027. Which gives us the British thermal units or BTUs and in this case it's going to be 51,350 BTUs. Now we can get from BTUs we can get tonnage by dividing by 12,000. So 51,350 over 12,000. And that's going to equal .43 tons or about 800 pounds of air conditioner. So to repeat we take the cubic feet, we multiply by 1027 to get British thermal units and then we take the number of British thermal units and we divide by 12,000 to get tonnage. Thanks a lot.
