Hi everyone! My elderly dad and I just bought a 2016 M7060 Kubota. My dad is used to driving an old Belarus he's had for 30 years and we had to retire that old girl (Yes, he loved his Belarus!). But now that we have a newer model, my dad is a bit frustrated with it because he likes the "old style" that he's used to. We are going through some learning curves with our new love so I have been here reading all the great info everyone has to share and I really enjoy being a part of this group! I will be looking to y'all for some help throughout this learning process so please have patience :) This tractor is for personal use only (working an old retired cattle farm/forest land) and will be used mostly for logging, snow plowing and bush cutting. Also, we will be using a logging winch for the first time (when it arrives in a few weeks) so we will need help with this as well. The fun part is this is the first tractor I've ever driven so I've been doing lots of reading and research on it. I do understand some of the differences between the old style and new style tractors but there is so much to learn! My first question is going to be about shuttle shift operation so I will go look for the correct thread to post that now.
Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Welcome KG1.. we are happy to help as long as you promise not to call them tractor "thingys" again

If you don't have a manual I would buy one and read that to start.

Hi 2ndhalf, Is the manual you are talking about the same one we can download online (The Operator's Manual)? Or is there a better manual in book form? The one online isn't great.

p.s. I promise I will try not to call them tractor thingy's in future

G'day KG1 and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Enjoy the site.

Oh, and "thingy" is a perfectly cromulent word... try the American "do-hickey" or "thingamabob" as an alternate.

(For some reason, they also titter like schoolgirls when you write 'grease nipple', preferring the work 'zerk' instead. :confused3:)

Grease nipple ROFL  You know it is a Zerk Wags ... that is too much.

The owner/operator manuals are not probably going to help your dad with some of the common sense stuff he already knows being experienced with a tractor. It is mostly to understand the controls and limitations of your tractor; he probably already knows a lot of that as well just from experience.

We kid a lot on this site as you will see; we don't really care what you call your tractor

I can tell you from having an elderly father myself it takes time for anything new to be familiar. My dad went from an old 8n to a Kubota BX2200 and he now loves his Kubota.

My BIL still has and uses a Belarus;tough ,crude but still works. He doesn't put many hours on it since he gave up dairy farming.Any-way you made a nice choice for your "new" tractor ,it should serve you well for many years.
