I'm learning to weld and I'm doing better than I expected. I have a Lincoln 140C mig and I stick to small/fun projects. I think that makes this a hobby.......I'm about to take on building a smaller (6'x10') dump trailer so I can take care of my honeydoos more efficiently. I want to purchase a hobby sized plasma cutter. I like good equipment and I take care of it. Unless someone changes my mind with cost vs performance discussions. I currently do not have 220 power. so that may limit my options. But I can get 220 if its really worth the expense.

I hope I can tell my wife I need this cutter to help with her work!......

It's here my interested: PRIMEWELD INVERTER PLASMA CUTTER

If you're a Primerld owner, would like to hear your experience with the extendable Primerld durability and how they compare to other plasma cutters you've tried.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

When we first moved into our house, I did all my welding outside the door of our laundry room,,,
my welder was plugged into the outlet that normally powered the electric dryer,,, (220 volts)

My wife eventually OK'ed installing another 220 volt outlet,,,
so that she could do laundry on the same day that I was welding,,,

I guess you gotta remember that any of these super low cost machines are more disposable,,
do not expect them to last forever,,,

BUT, at $300,,, it will have paid for itself on your trailer project,,, :cool2:

A more significant concern would be that you are gonna weld a 6X10 trailer without 220 volts,,,

I would be concerned about the strength of welds made with a 120 volt welder on some of the thicker parts,,,,,,

Ditto on the 120V. I Think Welding and 230v go hand in hand and very much worth having. I'm not going to suggest Plasma brands but do spend as much as you can possibly justify.. The Plasma would require some research on it's components. There is the Pilot Arc / No Pilot Arc and the IGBT / Mosfet consideration. If the unit you are looking at uses Mosfets, I wouldn't buy it. Good Luck.

The Razorweld line is made be a large overseas company (JASIC) and is working out good for those that I know have them.

But more importantly, a 6x10 dump trailer is the wrong project for a little 140 amp mig in my opinion.

A machine in the 180+ amp class would be much better. Plasma cutters are a luxury, larger welders more of a necessity.

For a trailer build, the most often used cutter is a chop saw in my experience.

Spend the money on 220 power, 180 or 225 buzz box and use a chop saw for the cuts. As mentioned , that 140 mig has no place in trailer building. It would of course do for a small trailer used behid a quad or side x. Not trying to be rude, just the facts.
