I noticed the PT with the tire/rims on inverted.

How does this change for better or worse - the "PT Pucker"?
What are the long term effects if any on putting more stress on the frame / pivot shaft?

It looks like a good idea but i would feel more comfortable if someone has had good success for a couple years without excessive wear etc... assuming that the unit was designed to withstand the stesses it would normally be subject to with a narrower stance.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Scarg,

Uh Oh! Now you have gone and done it! Next thing you know FOURTEEN will be on top of this thread, waxing eloquently about the advantages of rim flipping, and other erudite members of the group will put his theories to the test. This was the subject of a detailed thread a few months back. You can find all the discussion by doing a quick search limited to the PT forum, or better yet, go to FOURTEEN's profile, and scan his posts. You'll find the thread pretty quickly. It was no more than 6 months or so ago.

BTW, I am considering flipping the rims myself. A re-visit of this issue should be interesting...

I inverted my tires to give more visibility to the wheel motors while trouble shooting a wheel motor leak. I noted much greater stability and it "felt" like the PT pucker instances were reduced. I was able to quickly identify my leak with the greater visibility of the motors. However, once I have the leak fixed, I don't intend to keep them that way as I don't like the extra width of the wheels. I like the maneuverability between trees and other obstacles, plus the bucket work is easier if it's wider than the tires. The PT is stable enough without inverting for my purposes.
