IR sells Bobcat...

I just read in a trade magazine that IR has sold off the Bobcat line of equipment to Daewoo/Doosan. I don't see this as a good thing for Bobcat as the Daewoo/Doosan line of products has not been well recieved and they have been plagued with less than satisfactory equipment.

The sale has been pretty well discussed on various threads here. Doosan seems to be a good company with good products and I have only heard positive about them. Daewoo was bought by Doosan.

I think we will see. The only people it will be bad for in my opinion could be the Bobcat employees and probably Kubota dealers who are also Bobcat dealers. Will be interesting to see.

Technically, Bobcat bit the dust when Ingersoll Rand bought them way back when. Ingersoll is not an American Co. but it's one of those co's that transfer to the Cayman Islands or similiar location. That way, they can take full advantage of the US market and legal infrastructure without being burdened with certain US regulations, probably taxes.

Oh come on, you're telling me that I/R isn't really originally an American company? The Cayman islands BS is just a way for an American company to take advantage of tax/trade/laws.

In reality, IR had its' roots and many production facilities in the USA.

My comment is what was once a primarily American company is now being picked to pieces by another Aisian company.

Agreed.....our problems are self inflicted only because we have incompetent and corrupt world trade regulators and government officials that are beholden to multi-national business interests that are worried only about themselves and not the USA. Free trade where other countries are allowed to walk all over the USA and cannibalize our businesses and out source our employees at will and receive a tax incentive to boot is not in our interest.

That would pretty much be me, more prototype than T&D though and I'm 59!
