I have been wanting to order a 5055e or 5065e MFWD and as you know they can't be ordered from factory until August? Matthews, NC dealer told me yesterday that Deere issued memo saying when they are able to be ordered they will likely be an early 2014 model and be 4 cylinders. I was shocked. It may be in response to customer demand but not likely related to emissions standards. I am not a mechanic but if this true, for the same engine displacement (2.9 liter) would there be a loss of torque with smaller pistons? Also, I imagine a price increase ? Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't this 2.9 liter 3 cylinder been very reliable? Obviously the more cylinders the smoother running with more cylinders dividing the power stroke into smaller time between combustion events per revolution of crankshaft. Any dealers with info would be appreciated. Any of you mechanical experts would appreciate insight. My dealer was not aware of this alleged new memo. My dealer has received 2013 models to fulfill rental/lease sales but no allotment for retail sales. If this is true, then the 2013 India 50XX MFWDs would never be available for retail sales. 2WD models plentiful. Is the 4 cylinder rumor legitimate? How much more will it cost?
