Deere 5065e MFWD
I have been wanting to order a 5055e or 5065e MFWD and as you know they can't be ordered from factory until August? Matthews, NC dealer told me yesterday that Deere issued memo saying when they are able to be ordered they will likely be an early 2014 model and be 4 cylinders. I was shocked. It may be in response to customer demand but not likely related to emissions standards. I am not a mechanic but if this true, for the same engine displacement (2.9 liter) would there be a loss of torque with smaller pistons? Also, I imagine a price increase ? Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't this 2.9 liter 3 cylinder been very reliable? Obviously the more cylinders the smoother running with more cylinders dividing the power stroke into smaller time between combustion events per revolution of crankshaft. Any dealers with info would be appreciated. Any of you mechanical experts would appreciate insight. My dealer was not aware of this alleged new memo. My dealer has received 2013 models to fulfill rental/lease sales but no allotment for retail sales. If this is true, then the 2013 India 50XX MFWDs would never be available for retail sales. 2WD models plentiful. Is the 4 cylinder rumor legitimate? How much more will it cost?

I don't know if the 5055e's are going to a 4 cyl or not but I bet this has something to do with the final tier 4 emissions. I know the 5083e, 5093e, and the 5101e can't be ordered anymore because they are changing over to final tier 4 and I bet something similar is up the the 5055e and 5065e's.

The 5085e and 5100e are Interim tier 4, not Final. Are you sure about the 5083 and 5101? Only the 5093 has been taken off the configurator.

I can't imagine JD would not offer a new tractor model soon that they've just updated the web site and price configurator with, just updated the special offers including the cab models, and are hosting a live TV show on Monday to promote. My local dealer said he was expecting the new models in August, like others on here have posted, but told me this week he's been told to expect some by June. I wish I could get some solid answers too on price and emissions as I have been waiting on info on a 5075e cab so I can decide on it or a 5083e.

Cephas I'm not 100% sure on it. Did u read the article I posted? Sounds to me like they are going Final tier 4 sooner rather than later. I may have misunderstood my dealer but I could have swore he told me the 5083e, 5093e and 5101e could not be ordered anymore as the move was already underway to the 5085e and 5100e. Why would JD produce the E series in both tier 3 and IT4?

Everything I'm about to post is what I "think" is going on from a lot of research on the net and speaking to my dealer. The article is indeed about the Final t4 4.5 engine with a small mention of the 2.9 engine only having a doc/dpf to meet ft4 emissions. It doesn't state when we're to expect to see them in tractors, they probably just finished them and released some good news about no dpf in the 4.5l. It appears to me that JD is putting the t4 engines in tractors as late as possible. According to the emissions deadlines, the 50 to 74 hp engines should already be Interim T4, and my 2011 5055d is a tier2 engine where it should be a t3 or it4, according to the deadlines. You can see the schedule here on page 9 :John Deere Power Systems Brochure

So they're a little behind, probably putting the emissions engines as late as possible in tractors using the equipment flexibility provision here:Engine Equipment Flexibility from John Deere
More info here:EPA Tier 4 flexibility - OEM Off-Highway - OEM Off-Highway

So, seeing is this is 2013 and we're just now starting to see Interim T4 (not Final) with the 5085e and 5100e, and we we're supposed to see them in 2012 models, I think they will produce the t3 stuff as long as they can, offering the customer the option of t3, or it4(with snazzy new body and buddy seat option I might add), by using the percent of production flexibility for as long as they can. I'm hoping when/if the 50-74hp e series shows up, it'll be a T3 or Interim T4 at the most, not Final T4. Maybe there won't be a DPF on these models, but really, who knows :confused2:

Cephas, maybe the JD experts can answer shed some light on these questions on the RFD-TV program tonite at 8 ET. It's changing so much, so often it's hard to keep up with. I'm just happy I got my machine in the tier 3 format.

Hey Rmd8136, my apologies on hijacking your thread, hopefully you can tune in the show tonight for some info on your original 5055e/5065e question.
