Not having ever used one much, I'm thinking of buying a box blade instead of a weight box for my BX, the 5footers seem to have the weight needed to balance out the loader but is this asking too much of the machine? I would just be using it for grading a gravel drive and moving loose soil. M other option would be a York rake with casters, rippers , and the blade to match the weight but a good rake like that costs a small fortune.

You want a 4 footer for a BX. A 5 foot box blade would be too big, especially when it loads up with material and gets heavy.

Fair enough, kinda what I thought. Since you both have box blades, what manufacturers and how much do they weigh and are you happy with your choices?

Have a BX2660 with a Land Pride BB1548 4ft box blade for driveway maintenance. I also use it as rear weight (382 lbs.) with the loader. Seems a good combo to me.

If it fits the bill, and they make one for your tractor, look at a back blade/rake combo. You could use this in a 5-ft width.
Just a thought.

United 448HD. I chose this one because I found a new one that someone bought and never used so I got it cheap!! 318 lbs It works fine for everything I have used it for from grading road to spreading millings.

I have a Land Pride BB1548 as well, and I wouldn't want any bigger. Even at 4' it can get bogged down from time to time.

I think you need to stick with a 4' for the BX. I have a XB (made for BXs) I think KingKutter. Check with tractor dealers, Tractor Supply places. Weight is the main factor and welds that are so smooth that you can't see them are NOT GOOD in my opinion and experience.
I'm one of the supporters of Boxblades instead of weight boxes for counter weight because they can be increased in weight by laying heavy stuff on them if more weight is needed and they are also useful for several different purposes/jobs.
