Coby,

You described what I felt with a MX-6 behind the 5075E cab. I agree with the others that the 8ft cutter will be closer to the tractor compared to a 7 foot cutter like yours and, in theory, will have less leverage to raise the front tires. However, you are talking about roughly 300-400 more pounds as well.

I want the ability to use the tractor and cutter without the FEL because the overall length, with the FEL attached, will be too long to fit onto my trailer.

Ken,

I'm not sure what you mean whey you say "streak". Do you mean they leave uncut grass once the cutter reaches a certain height? The two cutters I am considering are the JD MX-8 and Bush Hog 3008.

Yes, streak of partially cut grass in the center between the gearboxes. I have never figured exactly why, unless it has something to do with blade tip speed or not enough blade overlap? If I bought a 8, I would let the dealer know that if it streaked when I first used it, it would be coming back. Ken Sweet

I have an MX8 that I use behind my TN 75. I don't think I would want to try it without the loader. Power is not the issue at all its just a heavy dang cutter.

Ken, I wonder if the 8' and 10' use the same gear box? If so, the blade tip speed is going to be slower on the 8'. So if the operator is pushing the speed a little too much, gonna get a strip.

1st off if was me i wouldnt use any 8ft or 10ft 3pt shredder on a 75hp tractor or any hp tractor for that matter.to much stress an weight on the 3pt at all time.you want a fel on your tractor the weight.an also run about 3ft off the ground to find unknown stuff sticking up.

I'm not sure about too much stress on the 3pt?? My tractor lifts and carries my cutter with ease. And the weight of the cutter is only carried solely by the 3pt when the tail wheels are off the ground.

I don't think you should ever create a situation where you can only use an implement if you are also carrying the FEL. In my case there are places I just can't get to with a cutter and an FEL on.

Also in my case, I'm not sure what good it does to have the FEL bucket 3' off the ground since my tractor clearance is much less.

I run a 8' 3 point heavy rhino shredder. I have no problems with the weight of it but my tractor is a 95hp and has a loader. I really like the shredder but it is heavy and might be a problem on a smaller tractor. I think my 3 point lift capability is something like 5000lbs.

Yeah I think mine is 7180lbs.

I know a lot of companies do use the same on 8 and 10 ft's. Some specs would be needed to compare specific brands. Ken Sweet
