Is anyone a member of Safari Club International?

Eight years ago, I took a really nice Axis deer in Texas. I had it officially scored and entered into the Safari Club International record book. At that time, it ranked #26 in the Axis free range with rifle category. It scored 150 1/4.

Since then, I have not renewed my membership, and the only way to see the record book is to be a member.

I would like to know where my Axis ranks now, but I don't want to pay the $65 membership fee just to see where I rank.

Is anyone here a member who would be willing to look up where my deer is ranked now?

Hmmmmm. Had to look that one up. Never heard them called Axis Deer before and I live in Texas. :ashamed: We just call them Spotted Deer or just deer. There's been a buck frequenting my front yard the last few days. I think he's been following the doe that was here last week eating bird seed. (There's cracked corn mixed in the bird seed.) Saw a fawn "napping" on the berm down the road. I don't know if that's connected but suspect the doe may be ready for a new mate.

And no, I didn't think about the rifle. The only thing I shoot around here is rattlers and hogs.

I used to be a member too, but the magazine really started to slip and when it was time to renew, I realized that I hadn't even read the last couple issues. For years, that was my favorite magazine!!! When I lived in CA, I went to every Convention in Reno, and one in Vegas. They where awesome, but now that I'm here in Texas, I go to Dallas most years to the Dallas Safari Club Convention, which is almost as good, but significantly cheaper and closer.

Here is mine. I didn't have it scored. I think it was something like 34 inches long. I shot it on a high fence ranch near Johnson City back in the 90s that was owned by a guy with the last name of Schneider. I forgot his first name or the name of his ranch.




I had it done in a full mount, and for fun one day, I put it out in a field and took a picture of it.

Thanks to a member here, I just got word that I am now at #72. This means that 46 Axis deer that scored better than mine have been registered with SCI in the past 8 years.

That's a lot of nice deer!

Maybe next year I'll get a bigger one!
