Greetings,

Many of us have Japanese built tractors etc. Including Kubota, yanmar, and iseki/massey.

These are all primary players.

Wed., thurs. And now theue friday a great deal of japan has had stunning rain levels (as much as 17 inches in just 24 hours).

This is the 3rd day of such torrential rains and floods. But worse yet is the large specific areas where it is happening. Manufacturing areas for parts equipment builders and sub assemblies are being effected is big quantities.

In addition the Fuchishima failed reactor has never stopped leaking contamination but now flooding is making it much worse.

Supposedly about 1/2 of Japan is seeing these massive rains.

More concerned for the people, and the long-term damage inflicted by the radiation.

I'm amazed how much looking I had to do to find a news story of any detail. Its like as if there is a lid on something this big.

So far only 1 death and 6500 buildings damaged in the one area. They have level 5 warnings (highest there are) for flooding. This is high movement flooding very similar to sunami level except its days worth not hours worth.

And Fuchoshima is one of several nuclear reactors in the path.

Nah, I don't want a new tractor with the EPA crap anyway. I hadn't seen anything about it, but I don't have cable TV.

It is eye-opening, what they are enduring, and I do hope they get some relief.
The Japanese seem to have a capacity for dealing with disasters, both natural & man-made, that is hard to comprehend.
For example, consider that in recent years Japan has survived:
The Kobe Quake:

... and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant complex getting slammed by a tsunami after surviving a 9.0 earthquake:

Despite the hardships, they will pull through this most recent setback with similar resolve.

I agree . . the Japanese are an "enduring" culture . . to a great extent because everything they do on virtually every level is about "Mother Japan".

Unfortunately . . I wish they were more honest about the past and present situation with the Fukishima reactor. The gov't deliberately has avoided acknowledging its past and present condition which not only effects them . . but also our own military bases in Japan and any downwind and downstream flows to everyone else.

But they cetainly have a skill set when it comes to building anything and everything related to engines of any size and type, that is unequalled in the world.
