I want to start by saying I am not condemning anyone for buying foreign made items. I know that Kubota, Toyota, etc. have very good products as well as many other foreign companies. I have always chosen to buy American when I can to support my country and American workers just my way. My John Deere has a Japanese motor which is very good so it is not 100% American but American owned and I assume built here in the states? Which brings me to my next point. I was not happy to see Toyota enter NASCAR I felt it was an American sport and should remain American. I was listening to D.W. before the race talk about Toyota was the only one of the 4 brands in the race to be built in the U.S. It seems the Chevy Montecarlo is built in Canada, Ford Fusion in Canada, and Dodge Charger built in Mexico. Toyota Camry built in Tennessee. My message is not to offend any of our Canadian members or anyone else. But it really upsets me that when I buy American I am doing it to help out the American worker and I find out later I may have to buy foreign to get American made. I may change my way of shopping from here on.

We are in global economy now and it is just going to get more that way. I can't find any clothes made in the US at the Farm and Fleet store. I just buy the stuff I like and don't worry about it any more.

Toyota Camry is the best selling car in the USA. I'm not surprised they got into Nascar. Did you notice that a few years ago 9 out of the 10 top finishers at Indy were Honda powered? Indy used to be an American race but that changed in the 60's when Jimmy Clark (from Scotland) drove a rear engined Lotus. A lot of people laughed, but not for long.

The world is a small place anymore.

Your preaching to the choir here, but this post is just gonna get closed down, send a letter NAPA and stop patronizing them.

Chances are your 755 came over on a crate in 6 pieces just like my 970.

Remember yin and yang, all is balanced.......except trade.

Your right it did come over on a boat. You removed the crate installed the rops, put the tires on, you now have a tractor but they're a good tractor!

The thing with Toyota, Honda, Hunyda, ect. is there building plants in the U.S. Where GM, Ford, Chrysler(who knows who will own them soon), Should thank the UAW which has drove the cost to build cars thru the roof,so now they have to build outside U.S. so they can compete. There was a time the UAW helped the workers. But now they might be costing them jobs.

You live in the thumb of mich. so you hear about the plant closing, the layoffs, seems like daily. With the great economy:eek: in Mich. right now it would be nice if Toyota, Honda, ECT. could open a plant in Mich. The plant closings are having an effect up here in northern Mich. It's killing the turism. The tool & die shops are closing, constuction has almost stopped.

I'm sure that it helped when JD. started assembling the tractors that replaced the 6/7/8/955's and 6/7/8/9/1070's in Agusta GA. If you buy from your local car dealer, tractor dealer, supermarket, ECT. you gave someone a job so they can feed the family. know matter where it's owned.

..UAW which has drove the cost to build cars thru the roof,

You hit the nail on the head. The wife and I went to look at Yukons over the week end, and the sticker was 60k for some of the models. Man, I must be out of touch and Ford is selling the new pickup at about 60K plus - What, for a pickup?

The foreign manufacturers can sell them cheaper and make more profit per unit than a US vehicle. So no kidding they are making money hand over fist.

The US companies are selling fewer vehicles BECAUSE of the price, and of the fewer vehicles they sell, they make less money. They will never ever win this war.

Toyota is soon coming out with a pickup to compete with the F450

Sure there is, we have the most lawyers and most all of them are made right here.

I don't think there are any CUTs under 40 hp made in the US. I ended up buying Kubota at the time because they made the product and put their name on it. John Deere and Ford/New Holland sell machines made for them by someone else. This doesn't make them bad machines by any stretch, just that I like the fact that Kubota makes what they sell.

Toyota may be more of an American car company than Ford or Chevy if you measure it by cars manufactured in the US.

I bought a Subaru, made in the USA by American workers just like Toyota, BMW,Mercedes Benz, Nissan and Honda.

Drive a Toyota Camry then drive an American car.... You'll soon seen that Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are dying companies..

They are dying from the failed design table and it's spreading throught he rest of the companies organs...

Regards,
Chris

I was just having this discussion with my wife the other day. I would love to buy 100% American made, however my wallet is not able to back up my patriotic mind set. Also, you need to ask yourself, is your goal to keep American citizens employed, or are you more concerned with where the company keeps its corporate headquaters. As you have said, Toyota, Honda, etc. have very large manufacturing facilities in the USA, which keep people employed. Given the design engineering is done over seas, however given the quality of these machines, I would prefer to keep it that way for the sake of my personal finances. I don't feel like buying a new car sonner than I have to. As it is, I have 177,000 on my 1997 Jeep Grandcheeroke.

Kubota assembles the majority of the BX's & RV's sold in the USA just outside Atl GA. The engines & HST's come over in crates but the rest is made in USA.
The M series are assembled there also. Ironically, the BX's are the ONLY SCUT's assembled in the USA.... :D

About 12 yrs ao I did some sub-contract work at the then fairly new Nissan car/pickup plant in Smyna, TN. They stamped the steel into body parts, welded the steel into frames, assembled the engines etc, basically they manufactured the entire Sentra & small pickup line there. It was a clean well run facility and people seemed genuinely happy to work there. They were NON-UNION! UAW tried to get a toe-hold and was voted out.

I don't know if American auto companys could ever operate without a union. There just seems to be too much conflict between the front office and the assembly line. It's as if American colleges are teaching aspireing CEO's/MBA's that it's SOP to "screw" over their workers inorder to get the ROI. It seems to be ingrained......

I used to have a problem with buying anything that I could identify as "foreign made". Then I started reading the fine print and found out that EVERYTHING has something in it thats foreign made. Was quite shocked to learn that some American branded products were 100% imported while some "Foreign" branded products were either assembled in America by American's and/or made with American made materials.

I posed a question in a post awhile back asking what was more satisfactory to Americans, a foreign branded product made in the USA or an American branded product made in a foreign country. Never got a good concensus on that question......

My F150 was assembled in VA, my daughters Honda in Ohio and my BX23 in GA. The wifes RAV4 is a 100% import from Japan (they are building a plant in Canada tho) When I can I'll buy locallly made 1st but that said, I don't have any qualms against buying an import as even teh imports support structure employs locals.
