its suppose to be great stuff, they claim it almost eliminates the diesel clatter. Its only a mix with the regular diesel. Check it out at

I have been told that BioDiesel will work in JD Diesels. The dealer here wants someone to try it in our area. No supplier at this point. I too would like buy corn and not so much OIL. I would like to see some of our money stay in USA. I read that a youth in Ohio ran his father's JD farm tractors.( as a school Project) He used stright Vegy oil from the fast food joints. This was a few years ago. The only problems was that running the tractor make you hungry, smells like french frys.

Yes.

I've run a 50/50 dino/bio blend in my diesel Jetta in the past. Car runs great on it. Minnesota policy makers decided to require the use of 2 percent biodiesel blends in Minnesota diesel fuel by July 2005. If I had a source near me, I'd be running at least an 80/20 mix in my car and tractor now.

I'm very pro-biodiesel. Instead of the government paying US farmers NOT to grow crops -- why not take that money and use it to build biodiesel processing plants. Create a larger market for farm products and less money going oversees for oil.

Oops - that got just a little political didn't it.

Locally we have a 5% bio blend available. My Ford PSD and Kubota both run very well on it.

Don't get me wrong. Biodiesel will work in most diesel engines, our JD's are no exception. But, to me, it gives JD an excuse to void your warranty, is not readily available, and costs ALOT more. I really don't care if my tractor smells like chicken fried steak, it's the cost issue that is the main deterrent for me.

I was involved in a transit project to use bio-diesel back in the late 90's. The only issue is that bio-diesel will clean your fuel system on initial use, so be ready to change your fuel filters a few times, depending how much buildup is in your tank and lines. Great stuff but its need to be available and priced competitively.

...And the government can use all of the closed military bases to build the processing plants.

Bio-diesel, from what little I know about it, sounds to me to be the perfect weapon to use in the oil wars. I just wish that we (USA) could get over our prejudices regarding diesel cars. I rented a diesel VW Golf over in France and you'd have a hard time telling it was a diesel.

I mixed old motor oil in my diesel for JD 4400 to experiment and it worked fine until I got to greedy and increased the mix,I was probably up to a 75% diesel and 25% oil mix and I started having fouling problems,I ended up dumping a bunch of injector cleaner in my new 100% diesel fuel and it started running ok again...and I thought no need to try that anymore...I thought I had screwed things up big time.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
