Package I ordered from HD Tuesday was scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but I just got an email that it's 'out for delivery' today as of 5:06 this morning.
Is FedEx running today?

Call them.
Around here I carry Fedex and UPS phone numbers on my cell phone. I can talk to dispatch directly.

Wow, some of you guys are impatient. I just got a package (SS Float Switch) from China that I ordered in April!I already got a refund from E-Bay. Now what? How do I get the poor guy his money?

Not impatient. I didn't really think it would get here until Monday. Just going by the email I got.

What I learned is in some areas FedEx and Purolator subcontract to local services if it is not profitable.
Now that adds lots of tracking problems.
Worst @ xmas etc.
Had an order that they left a door notice and I never was able to get the goods.
Even the local depot had no trace.
Fortunately my only recorse was to go to my CC and cancel the transaction.
In my case a multinational used so many subagents that nothing clicked as nobody accepted responsibility.\
T'was a giagantic nightmare.
Moral is always use a CC as that is your last recourse!.
Now that adds lots of tracking problems.

Once in a while I have the nicest guy show up here in an unmarked minivan, contracted to FEDEX.
I ordered something from E-Bay a little while ago under the Global Shipping Plan and was surprised to get a package from Pitney Bowes. I guess they saw the writing in Cyberspace and realized they weren't going to be selling postage machines forever.

I had a 100 pound steel oxygen K size cylinder evaporate from it's cardboard container halfway to my house!. they couldn't explain what happened, (a magician was involved??) but I had to wait a week for a replacement to arrive!.. this was a regular tracking number too, I really hate the TBA tracking numbers that Amazon sometimes uses, I can't track that!!..

Had similar with a carb I ordered....It came damaged, so contacted them. Said they would send another, never came. Told them this never came, so they refunded my money....Asked them what to do with the damaged one (it was fixable)....They said keep it.

Are you sure the status was "Out for delivery"? I'm in the same boat, but the status was "On vehicle for delivery". I figured that meant it's ready to go, once they get a delivery driver.
They were shipping yesterday, because my package changed location significantly. I suspect they weren't doing residential delivery yesterday.

Despite the many problems UPS has finding my house, if they say it will arrive on Thursday the 3rd they mean Wednesday the 2nd, or sometimes Tuesday. Or they will leave it at somebody else's house, and I have to go searching.
Shipping cos are heading into their busy season so no doubt it's all hands on deck.
Glad to hear that your package arrived... don't forget that the easiest way to open the packaging is with a can opener.

I ordered something from WalMart which was contracted to some other company. Got emails from both saying it would be delivered this past Monday by FedEx. Never got it. Oh Oh, FedEx never gets it right. No package showed so Tue morning I went to one neighbor's house to check but no one was home. There is a divorce situation there so I thought maybe the spouse who lives alone now is being difficult with miss-directed packages? In the past we always would deliver to each other if it happened. The other neighbor is not a nice person so I stay away from.
I did not see an easy way on Walmart's site to contact them until I got one those survey emails. So, I answered on the negative side. No reply yet. I also sent an email to the shipper's email name but heard nothing from them either. So today had an on line chat with FedEx.
Later, I stopped at my mailbox on my way to run an errand. Lo and behold, my package was in with the mail. No idea if someone put it there after it was delivered to the wrong address or it the postal delivery person dropped it off. I have heard that USPS does some local drops for FedEx? I cannot see that it would have hit the post office on Monday and it would have taken until today to get it from them?
USPS and UPS always get it right by me but FedEx must not have the same person on the same route or something because it is rare to have them get it right?
LOL, backing up a bit, Tuesday afternoon as I was on my way out, I saw a package on the front porch of the neighbor that I avoid. That package was to big to be mine. As I was pulling out onto the main highway from our dead end road, I observed a FedEx truck behind me. He must have come out of one of the three side roads that branch off of our dead end road. Anyway, when I returned home, I saw that package lying on the ground by the other neighbor's mailbox. Rain was in the forecast but I could see that the other neighbor's car was not there so I figured that they would be coming in and grab the box which they did. The nasty neighbor does not even have a mailbox nor a street address posted and FedEx delivered to him.

Why can't you use the TBA (Transport by Amazon) tracking right inside their app and website? I get direct deliveries in Prime vans and their subcontractors in personal cars and the app shows me GPS of exactly where they are and how many stops until they reach me.

We were expecting a UPS delivery yesterday, so we had our driveway gate open. An old rusted out full-sized SUV came up our driveway, so I went out to see what they were up to.
It was UPS! They contract out people to deliver with their personal vehicles this time of year. Her SUV was stuffed full of packages, and she couldn't even find ours. It looks like they struggle to meet demand in the holiday season.

I was talking to a driver for UPS last week, they said FedEx has cancelled the Amazon contract so UPS is very busy with the extra shipping from Amazon and now the holiday rush. The peak season drivers get rental trucks generally except when a regular driver is out sometimes a peak driver will get that route. With 9 houses on our road now, we see UPS almost everyday. Yesterday I got an Amazon package that was showing delivery on Wednesday, very light package (microSD card for phone)..

Had a second order from HD. Placed it Friday, they shipped late Saturday, FedEx delivered it late Monday. They have a gate code, but it's disabled in my gate opener after a certain time of day. They came after that and had to leave the package that was small enough to slip under it.
