Massey Ferguson 35 Diesel, Massey Ferguson 1736 cab Power Shuttle
I am pricing hydraulic top links and my dealer sent two options. I have a Massey 1736 cab
And generally use a back blade, bush cutter and will get a box blade next year. Before I get in a back and forth with him I did a search here and didn't find my answer. Any suggestions? Here is what he sent to me.

#A-TLH01 20" Closed 8" stroke
#A-TLH02 15" Closed 5" stroke

I haven't measured anything on my tractor yet. I currently use two different top links for blade and bush cutter. Just doing a bit of background work before I commit. They are expensive.
I know it's probably situation dependant but just throwing it out there in case the wisdom of TBN can enlighten me.

The top link is expensive, or the rear remote is expensive?

There is no real std working length for all the different makes and models. There are common sizes, but in reality it seems like each manufacturer has things just a bit different than the next guy. I suggest that you look at this link.

Now that link has a box blade as the example, but you can still do the same thing with your rear blade and mower. Just get each implement adjusted how you would typically be using it, probably the rear blade boom should be level and the mower tilted forward just a bit. Get the pin-pin distances of each and see if either of the suggested top links will work for both of your implements. If not, go looking else where. You don't have to buy the top link kit from your dealer.

Good luck. ;)

So if I am reading this right... your magic top link would be 15" closed and 28" open.
When you use your short top link, is it all the way closed?
When you use your long top link, is it all the way open?
I understand that in most cases, a hydraulic top link is used in the closed 1/3 of it's stroke the most.
Sorry I could not give you and exact answer but I hope this helped.

Thanks for the link.
FWIW, the top link is what I was referring to. But saying that they charge a lot for remotes too. I have two and that's fine for now.

Nothing magical. I have not measured anything yet on my gear. The sizes I included were units quoted by the dealer.
In reality my shorter toplink that I use is usually closed all the way and opened up about 10 threads. The long one is usually similar when used on my bush cutter and on my old blower. Now on the new tractor everything is in much tighter to the tractor so there is an even shorter toplink used on the blower and winch. I mainly want to use a hydraulic unit on my back blade or when I get a box blade. I will measure tomorrow and go from there. I posed the question to see if there was a general size that most folks use on a compact tractor. I suppose I will find my answer.

Those are two standard/generic top links. I have the 01 model on my L3200. All I did was measure the length and range of the factory top link (turnbuckle style) that came with the tractor, and picked the closest one -- it matched within an inch. Paid about $180 for the top link. Seems to be about $190 now:

A-TLH1, Ford / New Holland, Hydraulic Top Link Cylinder

I'd measure your current toplink(s) and then make sure what ever hydraulic version you get it can (hopefully) go both shorter and longer than what you currently have. That's what I did. No issues and really happy to have it.
