Rest in Peace
If you've ever cleaned it, its not a lot of dust/dirt. Yesterday I pulled sheets of it off a customer's computer and it didn't fall apart while I was holding it. Like if you didn't clean the dryer screen for twenty cycles.
I've had that amount of crud cause problems was the only reason I asked....
My last computer had a cooling fan die in 2004, and since I didn't know what I was doing at the time, I took it to the service department at Fry Electronics for them to replace that fan. The old man working that day was probably as old as I am, he took one quick look, and said, "I'm not working on anything like that. If you want to take it around back to the loading dock, I think they have an air-compressor and if you clean it up, I might work on it." He actually saved me some money. I just took it home, blew the dust out with my compressor and installed a new fan myself (which I bought elsewhere for a better price than Fry's anyway). But since then, I don't let one get quite that dusty.
