There hasn't been much activity here in the New Holland forums lately. I'm taking this as a sign of good times for all you N.H. owners out there. You must be to busy getting lots of fresh seat time. Or thank god, no one is having any mechanical dificulties or other problems.

Best of luck to all of you out there, and happy tractoring.

Russ, I can't speak for the other folks, but the only thing I've broken lately is shear bolts...lots of them. Yesterday alone, I broke five. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif My TC45D's PTO HP is 39.6 and my Tractor Supply cutter has a 40 HP gearbox. It used to be that using my Ford Jubilee (32 HP on a good day) I would bog-down the engine. With my Boomer, it has so much torque that when I hit a little cedar stump or something similar, it snaps the shear bolt like it was a pretzel stick. Yesterday, I was brush cutting on my pond dams and lake shoreline and found a few hidden stumps and a couple of loaf-of-bread-sized rocks that I trimmed down to size./w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif The good news is that the shear bolts are 1/2" x 4" bolts from Tractor Supply that sell for $1.19 per lb and I keep about 10 of them handy (3 or 4 in my toolbox) with plenty of 1/2 x 13 nuts. I now have my lakefront ready to set off some fireworks on July 4th. I would surely recommend the TSC cutter to anyone (made by King Kutter). With all the use/abuse I give mine, it has performed flawlessly. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think the snapped off front axle thread here last week or so scared everyone away from New Holland. While I was considering one, theres no way I'm going to even look at one now. That should have never happened.

I think anyone who reads TBN on a regular basis realizes that any machine could have problems. Most are minor in nature, but occasionally someone has a MAJOR problem. It can happen to the best brands. I think a good reputable dealer is as important as which color you end up with. I have had no major problems, (TC21 D) just a couple minor adjustments.

Same here banjobj , the TC 18 has done all I've asked of it and then some. I've got a great dealer ,ten miles up the road, and you're right about that. Dass

Kodiak,

No news is good news. I have been out of the country lately traveling for my business, and when home - SEAT TIME! But I can't help but say that I miss TBN during my travels, and do follow it somewhat when traveling and have access to the Net. My wife tells people I spend my time running "Tractor ****" on the computer.

But Banjobj is right - it is the dealer that makes the difference. "Value Added" is the term. I have friends with orange ones, green ones, a red one, and even a white and yellow one. All have their day, all have their maintenance to do; but the dealer makes the difference. Work with your dealer, don't just blame him for problems. You will find a sweet relationship with the guy that keeps it running goes a long way to extra service and fitting you in when times are busy.

As the saying goes, no news is good news.

My fiancee drove OUR tractor for the first time this weekend. First it was MY tractor, now OUR tractor. How long before it is HER tractor? She really enjoyed it which was a welcome relief after it took so long to convince her it was a smart decision to purchase it.

The bad news/good news is that OUR MMM hasn't come in yet, but she doesn't want to mow with the RFM (more seat time for me/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif)

When I started that thread it was not my intention to scare anyone away. It should not have happened, it is my impression that just this individual part was defective. Unit was repaired under warranty and has been operating just fine under the same intense FEL work loads as before. Logged more then 25 hrs in the past 10 days and hope to add an additional 20 to 30 hrs of lighter work over this July 4th weekend digging a parking area out to prepare for gravel, smoothing out the septic field to make it easier to mow, grading the driveway after getting some gravel delivered, baling 12 acres of hay, and hours of finish mowing and rotary mowing.

The TC40D works fine for the hay work (alfalfa). It handles the MoCo, raking and baling just fine. It can even pull a small hay wagon behind the baler. By "small wagon" I mean one that holds no more then 100 bales. Did not really like the big wagon behind the baler, holding up to 225 bales, but then it does not really like the big wagon without the baler either - just not enough mass, weight or torque.
