My other tractor did not have draft control. This one does. But either it doesn't do what I think it does, or it isn't working correctly. If I have it set at 10, the 3pt won't lower. If I have it set at 1 (or 0 - whatever lowest is), and lower the 3pt, the draft control lever works exactly like the position control and will raise and lower the 3pt lift arms.

This is just sitting around at idle with an implement hanging in air or on ground. Not pulling it thru the dirt - just sitting still and moving the levers. Seems as if the draft control lever is trying to do exact same thing as position control lever (and oddly does it a bit more smoothly at times.)

Draft control often is used while plowing, using a box blade, or using other ground engaging equipment. The 3pt hitch is raised or lowered automatically depending on how hard the implement is engaging the ground. Too heavy a cut, 3pt hitch raises, to little, it lowers, keeping a steady cut You'll see the top link bracket on the tractor side has a bit more than just a pin to retain the toplink. There are also springs and a small actuator arm going into the tractor. Those springs are compressed/decompressed depending on the load, and the small arm is adjusting the 3pt hitch height depending on where you have set your draft lever.

If you leave the Draft lever all the way up, the 3pt hitch wants as little load as possible, so the 3pt hitch stays all the way up, regardless of what the 3pt hitch height lever is doing. If the draft lever is all the way down it wants as much load as possible, and the 3pt hitch will stay down. If not using draft control, this is the position you want to be in, allowing only the 3pt hitch lever to control the hitch height.

Thx! Called dealer after posting this. He said it was normal. I thought it seemed strange as both levers in effect were doing exact same thing and the draft lever could make the position control inop.
