I just noticed how the trunk of this pygmy date palm was looking the other day. Is this normal? Is something eating at it or is it some type of disease? I have seen these palms where the trunks were "stripped" of the old frawns. I'm not sure if that is a natural process and that is what is happening here? Any info would be appreciated as always.

Looks normal to me just guessing from a pic.
I have had Date Palms die and when they did the vegitation at the top started turning brown and rotting.
I have two Date Palms now and the lower old fronds seem to fall off and get raggedy.
