In Cat 0, yes. Shortest Cat 1 and Cat 2 I've seen however, are ~13". Cat 3 will be longer yet

Yikes! The shortest one I've seen listed in catalogs is 16". I suppose for a special application you could weld up a shortened version. Pretty easy to do with the top links.

Had to make a short one for my yanmar. Just cut a chunk out of center and welded back together. big dan

Yeah, I bought a Leinbach 19 plow and I guess my bottom arms aren't long enough because when all the way down (and top link screwed all the way in) the point of the plow is 2" off the ground. It ought to be just about the other way. For the time being I found an old top link from a sears tractor that fits just fine.

How much should I expect to pay a machine shop to cut & weld a top link like you guys are suggesting?

Perhaps you are unaware of the function of the lift arm vertical links. They are what connect the lower lift arm with the upper lift arm (labeled lift arm leveling assembly below). On most tractors, one or both of them are adjustable. Mine are both adjustable, and can extend far enough to actually drag the lower lift arms in the dirt.

You should be able to take it a weld shop and get them to cut the center out and reweld it for a reasonable price. I am guessing that the plow is made for a larger tractor that a 1610 and the cuts down on lift. My Yanmar came with a double bracket on the lift that increased the lift height to clear attachments. You might try one of the Yanmar vendors that are on this site. All that I have dealt with are spot on. There was a discussion on the Yanmar board about this problem and I can't find it, you might ask there. big dan

Fill out your profile so we will know where you are at, there may be someone close that can help you...If you are in Maryland, I will.

Ditto the same offer here. I'm 25 miles SW of San Antonio, Texas.

With 50,000+ users here, there's got to be someone close with a welder. The term "reasonable" to some might be outrages to others but most shops around here would charge more than what a new top link would cost. They only run about $20. A welding shop will charge that much just for set up.

As Greg says, check your lift arms too. They may be set too short. Here's a link to good picture of a three-point set up.
