Sounds like you are getting a good deal. The person selling the one that I posted doesn't know much about it at all. She got the tractor as part of an estate left to her. I'm still up in the air about the deal

That is a good deal. The AG King line is a re branded Jinma. Jinma has a good reputation for a Chinese Tractor. They are built heavy and tough and actually give more HP than advertised. My Jinma 254 turned 31HP on the PTO even though its rated at 25HP. I would not sell my 2003 Jinma 254 with FEL for $7,000 even though I only paid $9000 back then and it now has just over 600 hours.

Things to watch on any tractor but especially a Chinese tractor is the fluids. I would plan on changing them all since it has been stored outside. These tractors have a separate hydro/gear oil sump where as most modern tractors share a sump. For the engine just use a good 15W40 and for the hydros use AW32. In the tranny and front axle use 80W90 gear oil. Also these tractors use a seperate oil sump to lubricate the injector pump. Use the 15W40 again. It will take about 1/2 qt and I change mine every other oil change.

By the way, where are you at? Knowing your location will help us put you in contact with a good dealer. Parts are no problem and dirt cheap but I have not needed many.

Also take your neighbor with you too look at it. He should know more about tractors then you and make sure everything works like the pto, 3 point, power steering, ect. Check the conditions of the fluids. You will need a big adjustable wrench to do this since the dip sticks are about 1" square heads that thread in. If there is any sign of water beware.

Thank you all for your input. I will go take a look at it and see if I can get any more information from the owner.

Strongly suggest you have some one very, very knowledgable with you. The price is right. However, the "seller doesn't know much about it" is a sobering issue. Sometimes, this is just the truth. Other times, sadly, it is a cover up expression for pretending to know little or nothing about a vehicle that is not right. Understand this and have one's eyes WIDE OPEN and be critical. Don't let emotions or such get in the way of an honest evaluation. Hoping it all turns out good for you.

Not sure where your home town is but this company, Home of compact Jinma, Foton, and Koyker Tractors and Parts, Wood Chippers, Backhoes - Affordable Tractor Sales Company, is the largest Jinma dealer around. He is just outside of Dallas. He is a super nice guy and has the largest parts inventory around. If anything maybe he can help you set it up right after the purchase.

Chris

I have to agree, they are definitely under rated on HP. My 284 was stronger than the 28 or 32 hp tractors I've owned.

I think bp fick gives some great advice here. I really liked many things about my Jinma but honestly, I wouldn't personally recommend a new one for a first time buyer if it's someone w/out good basic mechanical skills. If they don't, they need a dedicated local dealer where they could take it for any mechanical any potential help. Conversely, I think the positive thing about this particular tractor is that with 480 hrs on it, it probably has already had any of the "common Jinma quirks" worked out, if it had any. I think that it is definitely a good deal w/ loader and implements. If you purchase this tractor the online Jinma forums are a great resource for owners and if parts or advice are needed, the dealers that are often found in TBN's Jimna forum are top notch guys.
