Is this a mule?

My friend's mare was in a pasture with a jack for a few months then they switched her to a pasture with a stallion. They don't remember the exact date they switched her around so when the colt was born they don't know who the daddy is.

I have seen many horses a couple of days old but never saw a mule a couple of days old. Can you tell from the photos if this is a mule or a horse?

Tallyho8, I'm going with horse. I don't think this colt has quite enough ear for a mule. One thing I've noticed, most mule colts have plenty of ear even at birth. I hope they were wanting a horse colt?!

Im no horse exprert, but if i was going to guess id say mule.

My wife says it is definetely a horse. She says that if you have to ask, it is a horse, a mule would have enough ear so that there would not be any doubt and that not to worry that the colt would grow into the ears and legs and look "normal" very quickly.

Horse. Too nice a shoulder for a mule. I've seen Trakehner foals with ears that big, but I don't think they are big enough to be a mule.
