Well the new chipper finally arrived last night. Spent this morning putting it together, and going over everything. When I put it on the tractor it is a little higher than I would like. The pto on the ck20 is a little to low to make the pto shaft straight with no angle. The owners manual says that it should be as straight as possible with no more than a 15 degree angle. It looks like it is ok to me just wanted to make sure that the more experienced folks than I on here think it is ok to run. Please let me know. Even if it is ok to run like this I am still thinking of cutting the stand down a bit to make it level. What do you all think??? Thanks for the input.

Looks fine. If you are worried, then get a few boards to drive the rear wheels up on once you get to where you are going. That should straighten her out. :D

You can draw a 15 degree angle on a piece of paper and hold it over your picture; I've done that in the past with equipment I needed to align.

Can you let us know how the chipper works out and an approximate cost? I'd be especially interested in how the CK-20 performs.

Cheers,

Jon

You could also take a piece of cardboard and a protractor and draw a 15 degree angle on it. Cut it out, invert it and hold it on the shaft. You can then use a level on the cardboard to see where you stand.

However; from what I see it looks within reason.

Just a guess from the picture but it looks like a bit more than 15'. If you don't mind lowering the stand a bit, the straighter the better.

Nice Winter picture. Where's the snow? I need to move. :) Still have 6 inches after the little warm-up and now more snow to come.

Lower the stand. It will be easier to move around on uneven ground and the CV Joints in the drive shaft will last a whole lot longer.

The straighter the better.

May be an illusion, but it looks to me that the chipper in the second picture is sitting on higher ground than the tractor making for a larger angle. Unless you live in the flat lands, I figure you can find ground that will help align the shaft.

I imported the picture to Corel Draw, rotated it a bit so the chipper was level and measured the angle at 12.30 degrees. But I think the idea of just parking on a slightly higher spot and lowering the chipper until the shaft is level is the best idea. You're probably not going to be chipping in the driveway anyway(I know my wife wouldn't allow it ;) ), so it's probably line it up each time you start to work. Looks good, by the way.

Seems this is a second thread about the subject.
No rules against this?
Or not to care. :?
