Today I was pushing snow and everything was working fine. I took a brake and always park the tractor in a heated garage. I went to start the tractor and knowticed that when I turned the key to heat the plugs and heard the fuel pump clicking it wasn't just a continuous clicking like normal it was sparatic stronger and weaker like it was pulsing. Is this normal or cause for any concern? I have about 150hrs on it.
Thanks.

I will park my BX2660 in my heated shop and never noticed the pump click change. It seems standard if it sits 5 days or 2 hrs. Did it start OK? Maybe a connection was wet?

It did start ok, but I did knowtice it puffed out really dark black smoke when it fired up and it's never done that before (usually just a very small amount of grey smoke.) what connection could be wet to make it do that?

mine clicks while glowing plugs too. When its colder, it seems to be louder too.

Like I said the clicking is normal, it's telling you that your fuel pump is working but the clicks are usually regular and constant. Not get louder then quieter and sparatic (that's what mine is doing)

This is the cold fuel and the act of starting the engine-even in a warm garage.

A Kerosene fueled salamander will warm the tractor up very quickly and to reduce engine wear. I use one the almost year round to warm up engines.

You should invest in a pressurised oil pump to pump engine oil through the engine prior to start up.

The act of starting an engine creates the most engine wear as the oil is not pumped until the oil pump is cranked by the act of starting your engine

The puff of black smoke is normal, its bit of diesel fuel consumed at start up and any remaining unburned carbon.

You worry when you have a lot of white smoke from unburned fuel.

If you have a lot of black smoke its usually due to a plugging or plugged air filter if the engine is in good condition.

Air filters are cheap, engines are not.
