I'm in a area where you can't rent a tiller - cost of maintenance I suppose. I also have to agree with dummy (sorry?) they might be pricing it attached to the machine. I can rent a power (harley) rake but have to take my tractor there to get it set up (@150/day) or take it set up on their machine (@250/day).
The other thing with rentals is you get a big discount on the day rate if you take it for a whole week. If you line up some jobs w/ your neighbors you may be able to offset the rental cost.
