I have a chance to buy a 60 inch King Kutter 3 pt hitch rough cut mower for a very good price. Is this too much mower for my 2300?

I plan to use it for regularly cutting the growth down on an existing cross country ski trail, not for brushing out new areas. The width appeals to me since I'll be able to do the trail in 2 passes rather than 3.

For the occasional tall grass could I do a few passes lowering the deck each time?

Thanks for your help.

To big! No bigger then 48" with any single spindle cutter.

Thanks, guys. I figured this was the case but thought I'd ask anyway. It was a great deal, though. Oh well, I'll keep looking.:)

I am told you can put a flail mover up to 60." Look for one of those.

Since the factory MMM is 60", can someone educate me as to why the same size (60") would be too much for a rear mounted mower? Thanks.

I originally purchased my 2300 with a 60" 3PT finish mower. It worked great except for 2 issues:

1. Without front ballast it didn't balance well (so I loaded the front tires)
2. My daughters didn't like mowing around the trees in the yard.

I traded it for the MMM but would prefer the rear mount.

SwampKing:
I think its because the brush mowers having only 1 long blade stall much easier than a finish mower with 2-3 blades?

Dale can go with a 60 '' rear mower but he is asking about a 60'' Brush Hog which hain't the same deal.
Here is how it goes:
Finish mower up to 60''
Brush Hog up to 48''.
